“Zootopia 2” hit theaters on Nov. 26, making this the sequel to the hit Disney movie “Zootopia.” This 1 hour 46 minutes movie brought fans into excitement as a lot of people came out of the theaters, saying the sequel was better than the original movie.

Starring Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, the film has also added many new animals and species into the sequel. One of the most notable animals starring in this movie is Gary De’ Snake, who is played by Ke Huy Quan. The snake will be the first reptile featured in this franchise and also the most troubled species as reptiles were banned from Zootopia a long time ago. Gary is seen as a fugitive because the city accuses him of living on stolen land. But in reality, reptiles were one of the first species that originated from Zootopia.

“That’s the beauty of this character, when you think about a poisonous snake you’re scared of him, there are all these like, preconceived notions that come with that. But yet, when you meet him he’s actually a really friendly guy, a goofy guy with a big heart,” said Ke Huy Quan to an entertainment broadcasting network Cinemablend.

As this is a sequel to “Zootopia,” the moral of the story for both movies are very similar. The first movie’s message was not to judge a book by its character and it showed how there were different kinds of animals that lived in Zootopia and how animals shouldn’t judge others for their size or looks but what is really in their hearts. The sequel provides us with the same message about facing stereotypes and how characters like the snake have to overcome these challenges to prove his justice and help his family be brought back into Zootopia.

“They find an explanation for the reptiles’ bad rap is a tactic straight out of the history books: convincing people that a certain demographic is dangerous and savage as a plot to steal their ideas and land… much like the first Zootopia, this second chapter sometimes muddles its metaphor, and, perhaps blessedly, it may not have the rigor of a colonial studies course,” said Nadira Goffe, a staff writer for Slate.

While the snake has to face many challenges to bring his family back to Zootopia. The message of the movie had left fans overwhelmed with emotions as they were pleased to see Disney try to embrace a serious issue not talked about enough in children movies. Some review companies like IMDb gave this move a 7.7/10 with critics describing it as one of the best Disney sequels they have seen in years.
