Plainfield North’s boys and girls golf teams are closing off their season strong with new team records and wins as both teams advance in championship matches.

Over the past month, the boys golf team didn’t win conference, but they still advanced to regionals, performing well at both.

“Coach is very structured and strict in a good way, where he pushes us to get better,” Jack Hermann, a varsity player, stated.

Varsity Coach Kneip creates a good atmosphere for the boys by providing them with drills and keeping them structured throughout the season, while also allowing them to compete in fun activities like the Tiger Cup, which is a match where both junior varsity and varsity players compete together, which allowed for the members to mix in some fun into their season.

According to players, they had a lot of ups and downs this season, but they believe by staying focused and disciplined they will continue to be consistent all the way till the end. Working on their stats and spending more time training in the simulator has also helped prepare them for their end of season matches.

On the girls side, the team won their conference, regionals, and sectional meet, only losing one match the whole season. They were the first in school history to win conference for girls golf, and can now say they’ve had players advance to state, carrying on their winning streak.

The girls agreed one of the things that led them to performing as well as they did was their amazing coaches.

“Our coaches helped us perform well by always being there for us and supportive no matter what,” Emily Sullivan, a varsity player, stated.

Along with the support from the coaches, the girls have also been putting in a lot of work to lead them to this point. By practicing everyday after school, they were able to focus on what needs work so they can be even better next year, as well as reflect on what they have done well.

“I need to work on getting stronger and making sure my irons and driver go further, then I will have a big advantage next year,” Sullivan said.

One of the varsity players, Chloe Lee, advanced to state and ended up taking 8th place overall. While she is only a freshman, this is a huge accomplishment. According to her, one of the factors that lead her to playing so well is the work she put in throughout the summer as well as the school year.

“You always wish you could have done better, but, for my first year, I learned a lot and am looking forward to next year,” Lee stated.

As both the boys and girls seasons come to an end, they are able to say with confidence that they played to the best of their ability, and are proud of where their hard work led them. With the help of the coaching staff as well as the work ethic of the players the 2026 season will be remembered for years to come.
