Zara Larsson is going stateside, debuting her new girly summer aesthetic on the “Midnight Sun” world tour.
Released in 2025, “Midnight Sun” allowed Larsson to reinvent herself through her music and culture. After regaining popularity and thousands of new fans, the “Midnight Sun” tour hit the Chicago Riviera Theatre on March 15 and brought a new spark to concerts that made fans feel like they were at a summer pool party, having the time of their lives.
Along with her four energetic dancers: Chelsea, Summer, Lovisa and Rosalina, Larsson performed 20 of her favorite songs, including “Midnight Sun” twice, “Ain’t My Fault,” and ending with her most famous TikTok hit, “Symphony.”
As well as singing her heart out, Larsson also had energetic dances that were incorporated throughout the music. Her most iconic dance of the tour was the “Lush Life” dance, in which she brought up a fan from the audience to meet her and dance onstage. After belting her heart out, Larsson surprised her fans at the end, using her dolphin meme that has now supported her aesthetic, making the tour feel like summer lasts forever.
Larsson’s transitions, dancing and overall set design matched “Midnight Sun” beautifully. With a sunset background and use of vibrant lights throughout her set, each song felt like a new vibe that brings out the meaning behind her lyrics.
While Larsson’s performance was fun to watch, the intimate size of the theater venue made it hard to pay attention to the music and instead, focus on trying not to pass out. Her fanbase is bigger than the theater, and the concert should have been performed at a place that fit all of her fans who love her, like the United Center. Fans were shoulder to shoulder in the GA pit with people pushing forward to get closer to the barricade, causing a crowd crush and multiple pass-out incidents.
Overall, the two-hour concert felt like 10 minutes. Fans got to dance their hearts out, sing every lyric and bond with a positive and kind community. All of her songs felt like a pool party in the middle of summer, making the audience forget that outside the Riviera Theatre, Chicago was 40 degrees and pouring rain.
