Plainfield is sprouting with small businesses perfect for the springtime.

With April showers over and May flowers blooming, the weather in Plainfield is perfect for exploring the variety of small businesses throughout the historic downtown area. Numerous newer businesses have opened, including The Clifton and Blooming Moon Crystals, and older businesses have reopened and remodeled, including Hazel Marie’s and Sovereign. Starting June second, Plainfield will host its annual car show called Cruise Nights, bringing the opportunity to visit the variety of shops with a plethora of foods, items, and experiences.

Formerly occupied by Giambotta Pizza, The Clifton has rebranded the space, making a warm and welcoming restaurant serving homely meals and yummy wood-fired pizzas. Providing indoor and outdoor seating, The Clifton makes having dinner more about the love of food and community, and the perfect place to enjoy the warm sun of spring.

If a sweet treat looks good after a warm meal, Hazel Maries makes the sweetest shop to get a scoop of ice cream from. No matter if it is rain or shine, warm or cold, a scoop of Kitty Kitty Bang Bang or for chocolate lovers, Brownie Cascade, can make a good day even better! Watch out for Hazel Marie’s Facebook; every day, a different name gets a free scoop of ice cream, and who knows who could get lucky.

Looking for some good energy? Maybe a cute shop to buy a crystal from? Blooming Moon Crystal’s new location next to Sara Boo Creek has beautiful pieces. From jewelry to crystals to other items, the shop has everything, whether it is for a birthday gift or a self-care gift.

Spring makes the perfect season to look out for new businesses downtown and in the Plainfield area. Small businesses are what make a shop or a restaurant feel like home, which makes it the perfect place to go on an adventure too and take a look.
